The endoscope itself consists of either a rigid or flexible tube containing one or more optical fiber systems and, possibly, a channel for mechanical devices, a light delivery system to illuminate the organ or object under inspection. The light source is normally outside the body and the light is typically directed via an optical fiber system. Pendax is a Japanese company that produces endoscopes. They have a lot of models to suit the different customer needs and this article contains a review of the most popular one. Every year, more and more people die because of lung cancer. This is mainly due to late detection, since lung cancer is hard to detect in early stages, with visual symptoms such as minor epithelial changes in the bronchial mucosa that may be difficult to identify in conventional endoscope examinations. The standard endoscopes simply don’t produce and image of high enough quality, so there has been a strong need over some time now to have a system that combines the use of autofluorescence with the high resolution imaging capabilities of an electronic videoendoscope. And this is exactly what Pentax has achieved with its new system - the PENTAX SAFE-3000 and PENTAX EB-1970AK models. It helps diagnose cancer and minute lesions at an early stage. PENTAX believes that its auto-fluorescence video endoscopy system enables clinicians to effectively detect lesions and abnormalities "at early stages through the display of the differing degrees of autofluorescence emitted by submucosal tissue." Hence, Pentax has started marketing auto-fluorescence endoscopy Systems beyond Japan. Those are the PENTAX SAFE-3000 and PENTAX EB-1970AK models that make up the system. The PENTAX SAFE-3000 is a light source-integrated processor unit, while the PENTAX EB-1970AK is an electronic endoscope. This is the world's first electronic videoendoscope, achieving images of impressively high quality and it is also the first product of its kind in the world to incorporate an electronic videoendoscope − an advance that enables it to deliver images of significantly higher resolution. With the PENTAX SAFE-3000 and EB-1970AK surgeons can detect even minor bronchial lesions through high-quality image observation. As a result, it supports the detection of lung cancer and other ailments at an earlier stage and with greater ease than is possible with conventional endoscope examinations. The system has a digital video output terminal, which allows the user to display or store movie images on a PC or a variety of digital video equipment. It also features a USB output terminal to allow convenient digital still image storage on USB memory. Upper Endoscopy | Borescope Lens | Camera Lens | Gradient Lens | Optical Lens | Rod Lens | |
